Wood Front Door Refinishing

The large French doors on this Magnolia home in Seattle had suffered some water damage and were in need of a facelift. However, the original veneer was too thin to allow for refinishing, so we decided to replace it with fresh fir veneers. To ensure a durable and long-lasting finish that could withstand the Pacific Northwest elements, we applied four coats of West Systems epoxy - an excellent choice for marine applications and the recommended finish for exterior use by the veneer manufacturer. While the epoxy offers superior water resistance, it doesn't protect against UV damage, so we followed up with four coats of Minwax Spar Varnish. This step ensures the doors are fully shielded from the elements and UV rays, preserving both their beauty and longevity.

This comprehensive treatment provides the perfect balance of protection and aesthetic appeal, ensuring that the French doors will continue to look beautiful and stand the test of time.
