Exterior Rotten Wood Repair in Seattle

How we restored a water damaged garage door trellis and window frame in Magnolia.

This project involved addressing significant rotten wood in a custom window frame, garage door frame, and garage trellis, which are key areas often susceptible to water damage. Rotten wood trim is an early indicator of deeper issues, and if left untreated, water intrusion can penetrate the vapor barrier, sheathing, and framing, leading to costly and extensive repairs.

We began by removing the damaged trim and redesigning the frame to minimize water ingress points. The area was then sealed with Quad Max caulking for superior waterproofing and finished with two coats of paint for added protection.

The garage trellis posed a unique challenge. We carefully pinned back the plant growth, dismantled the trellis, and replaced the rotten garage door framing. To maintain the home's aesthetic, we replicated the original style with new wood, sealed every joint with Quad Max caulking, and completed the project with two coats of paint, ensuring long-lasting durability and a polished finish.
